                                                             BIBLE STUDY - THE MILLENNIUM.

We read in Revelation 20:1 - 10, “Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, having the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. He laid hold of the dragon, that serpent of old, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years”. Verse 6, “Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ and shall reign with Him a thousand years”.

The word ‘millennium’ means a thousand years. The word ‘mille’ - thousand and ‘annum’ - year. We refer to the Millennium as the ‘Millennial Reign’ of Jesus Christ and the saints on this earth. The Millennium will begin with the binding of Satan at the return of Jesus Christ to this earth to re - establish the throne of David and to set up God’s kingdom on earth, Matthew 24:29 - 31; Revelation 19:11 ; 20:7 and after ‘the battle of Armageddon’ has taken place.

We see the Millennium as; the dispensation of divine government. This is also seen as the 7th thousand year of our Lord. From Adam and Eve to the flood - two thousand years before the flood, two thousand years after the flood till Jesus Christ and the Cross. From Jesus and the Cross till now, two thousand years. 2000 + 2000 + 2000 = 6000 years. Now the 7th thousand year is starting. Does that mean anything to you?

God created all the things in six days and on the seventh day He ended His work and He rested on the seventh day, Genesis 2:2. We are already entering the seventh thousand years - the Sabbath Time of our God and Creator. This will be the last age on earth before the eternal perfect state and age when God will be al - in - all again, as in 1 Corinthians 15: 28. Satan must be bound before the Millennium can begin, Revelation 20:2,3. Satan will have no influence on the world during the Millennium, Revelation 20:3.

The Bible also refers to the Millennium as;

1.   ‘The dispensation of the fullness of time’, Ephesians 1:10.

2.   ‘The day of the Lord’, 2 Thessalonians 2:1 - 8 ; 2 Peter 3:13.

3.   ‘The age/world to come’, Matthew 12:32 ; Mark 10:30 ; Luke 20:35 ; Ephesians 1:21.

4.   ‘The regeneration’, Matthew 19:28 ; Ephesians 1:10.

5.   ‘The times of restitution/restoration of all things’, Acts 3:19 - 21.

6.   ‘The consolation of Israel’, Luke 2:25.

7.   ‘The redemption of Jerusalem’, Luke 2:38.

Please take not that this thousand years will be the first time that Jesus will reign on earth. This is the time that God will gather and rule all things in Christ, both in heaven and on earth, 1 Corinthians 15:24 - 28 ; Ephesians 1:10 ; Revelation 22: 4,5. Jesus Christ will rule the world from Jerusalem according to the Prophets in the Old Testament, 1 Chronicles 23:25 ; 2 Chronicles 33:4 - 7 ; Psalms 72:8 ; Isaiah 2:2 - 4 ; Jeremiah 17: 25 ; Daniel 7:13,14 ; Joel 3:17 ; Micah 4:7. The Bible teaches that all the righteous dead will be resurrected before the Millennium to have part in the reign, Revelation 20:4 - 15. There is much more to be said about the Millennium.
