                                                            BIBLE STUDY - THE ANTICHRIST.

"Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that the Antichrist is coming",  1 John 2:18. The word itself means ‘against Christ’. The Antichrist will be active only during the time of ‘the great tribulation’ on earth that will start only after the rapture of the Church has taken place. According to Daniel 7:11; Isaiah 11:4 and 2 Thessalonians 2:8 - 9; 1 John 4:3, the Antichrist will be a mortal man up to the day that Christ will come back to this earth. This is at the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. Jesus will reveal the Antichrist at that time, and will destroy him, 2 Thessalonians 2:8. This will happen at the end of ‘the great tribulation’ - at the end of the last three and a half years. See my Bible study on ‘the great tribulation’.

1.    The Antichrist will come from Syria, Isaiah 10:12 - 19; 14:24 - 27. According to Isaiah 13:6; Isaiah 9:13; Isaiah 14:1 - 11; Zechariah 5:5 - 11; Revelation 16:17 - 21; Revelation 18:1 - 24 the city of Babylon will be rebuilt and will be the capital of the Antichrist, from there he will reign for three and a half years. This will be the first half of the great tribulation on earth. The Antichrist will come out and will reign over the ten kingdoms that will be formed inside the Roman Empire, Daniel 7:23 - 24. Only these ten kingdoms will give their authority to him, Revelation 13:1; Revelation 17:12 - 17. Baghdad of today, in the country of Iraq was called Babylon.

2.   In the middle of the great tribulation the Antichrist will break his covenant with the Jews, enter into Palestine, and make Jerusalem his capital for most of the last half of the great tribulation, Daniel 9:27; Daniel 11:40 - 45; 2 Thessalonians 2:3 - 4 and Revelation 13. Certain countries will make war against him at the time he is supposed to rule the world. America will not join the ten kingdoms inside the Roman Empire, America will make war against the Antichrist, Daniel 11:40 - 44.

3.    Some Bible students think that Satan will be the Antichrist. The reason for this is that none of the Christians will know who the Antichrist is, they will be raptured. There is no Scriptural proof of who the Antichrist is, or will be. Satan is a separate person from the Antichrist and merely gives his power to him, 2 Thessalonians 2:7 - 12; Daniel 11:35 - 39 and Revelation 13:1 - 4. The dragon - Satan, the beast out of the sea - the Antichrist, and the beast out of the earth - the false prophet, are always seen as three separate persons throughout the book of Revelation from the time they are mentioned, Revelation 12:1 - 17; 13:1 - 18; 19:19 - 21; 20:1 - 10.

4.    The Jews did not accept Jesus Christ as the Messiah, this is one of the main reasons why they will have to go through ‘the great tribulation’. When the Antichrist comes during ‘the great tribulation’ some of them will accept him as the Messiah. “All the world wondered after the Beast - the Antichrist, and they worshipped the Dragon - the Devil, which gave power unto the Beast”, Revelation 13:3 - 4. The last period of ‘the great tribulation’ the Antichrist will sit in the temple of God thinking that he is God, 2 Thessalonians 2:4; Daniel 11:36 - 37. Read my Bible study on ‘the great tribulation’.
