                                                                   BIBLE STUDY - SIN.

The root of all sin is disobedience. We are not sinners because we sin; we sin because we are sinners. We are born into sin; it is our nature to sin because of Adam and Eve’s disobedience. Sin produced spiritual and physical death to mankind. Spiritual death means separation from God. All human beings are born with the nature of sin in their jeans. Romans 5:12; ‘Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned’. Romans 3:23; ‘For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God’.

The word ‘sin’ appears 389 times in the English AV of the Bible. The word ‘sinned’ appear 114 times in the English AV of the Bible.

Sin can be described as;

1. An act - violation of obedience.

2. A state - absence of righteousness.

3. A nature - enmity and rebellion against God.

Why do people sin? They have no fear and respect for God. Can a person resist temptation and sin? The answer to this is definitely YES. We as born again Christians have the Holy Spirit to help us to say NO to sin. Looking at the following Scriptures we confirm this statement. John 16:7-10; “Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: Of sin, because they believe not on me; Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more”.

‘And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins’. Matthew 1:18.

“And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin. Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him. Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother”; 1John 3:4-9.
