BIBLE STUDY - HELL.
Hell is a
real place like heaven and earth. God created hell and He created the heavens
and the earth. Hell is a place of brimstone and fire. Jesus spoke more about
hell than anyone else in the Bible. The word ‘hell’ appear 54 times in the
authorized version of the Bible, starting with Deuteronomy 32:22, For a fire is
kindled in mine anger, and shall burn unto the lowest hell, and shall consume
the earth with her increase, and set on fire the foundations of the mountains.
The word hell is always linked to a burning/flame mass as can be seen in
someone died in the Old Testament, the body went into the grave or, Hebrew
“Queber”, Greek = “Mnaymion” The righteous person’s spirit went to
Paradise. The wicked person’s spirit went to Hell or “Sheol” = Hebrew,
“Hades” = Greek. When some one dies in the New Testament or now, the body
goes into the grave. The spirit of the person that has accepted Jesus Christ as
Saviour will go to Heaven to be with the Lord, Acts 7:55 - 60; 2 Corinthians 5:1
- 10; Philippians 1:23 etc. The person who dies without accepting Jesus Christ
as their Saviour will end up in the lake of fire - Revelation 20:15. As can be
seen in my Bible study, ‘Life after death’, there are more then one place
where wicked people/beings go after death. I refer in this study to the final
hell or ‘lake of fire’.
- day pastors and preachers admit that they do not talk about hell, they recon
that preaching on hell frightens people. These preachers will one - day, have a
rude awakening. We read about the rich man and Lazarus in Luke 16:19 - 31.
Please take note that this portion of Scripture is not a parable as many think.
Jesus states clearly as can be read in Luke 16:19, “There was a certain rich
man”. We read further of a flame, verse 24, “And he cried and said, Father
Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his
finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.” Hell
is a place of torment, Luke 16:28, “lest they also come into this place of
torment”. Matthew 13: 49 - 50, “So shall it be at the end of the world: the
angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just, and shall
cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of
Jesus Said in Matthew 10:28, “And fear not them which
kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is
able to destroy both soul and body in hell”. Before Jesus Christ died on the
cross Satan had the keys of death. He kept all the dead of the Old Testament in
prison. The righteous went into this prison and were held captive by Satan
against their will as can be seen in Hebrews 2:14 - 15 etc. Jesus overcome Satan
on the cross and He, Jesus, now has the keys of death and hell in His hand.
“I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for
evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death”. Jesus then liberated
the righteous from paradise, He even went to preach to the dead, 1 Peter 4:6,
‘For this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they
might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the
spirit’. These are the soul that were raised from the dead when Jesus rose from
the dead, Matthew 27:50 - 53 ‘Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud
voice, yielded up the ghost. And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in
twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;
And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, And
came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and
appeared unto many.
